Get To Know The Heart of MJ’s Hideaway

Mary, born and raised in Tucson, and John, originally from Indiana, met while serving in the Air Force in Oklahoma City. Their journey together has taken them across the country, through 10 states, 15 moves, and countless adventures, including raising their two kids, Mo and Jon.

Mary spent nine years as an F-16 jet engine mechanic before transitioning into fitness coaching and personal training. John, a Project Manager specializing in military equipment development, wrapped up an incredible 25-year Air Force career, retiring in December 2024.

After years of moving, they were ready to plant roots and build something special as a family. Their search led them back to Arizona—where they had once been stationed—and to MJ’s Hideaway in Show Low. They fell in love with the area, the community, and the idea of running a restaurant together.

In September 2024, their dream became a reality when they officially took over MJ’s Hideaway! They can’t wait to meet you, serve you, and make this spot a true home for good food and great company.
